This very rare find is a Himer Fox Salt Glaze North Carolina Pottery Canister Crock or Storage Jar. It is stamped "2. H. Fox" on the upper side, with the #2 indicating the number of quarts I believe. It has a 1" wide lip edge at the top and stands 7" tall, 6" in diameter lip edge to lip edge, 5-3/8" in diameter at the base. Dates from the mid 1800s.

The condition is as shown in the photographs. As shown, the upper lip has three large sections missing. The body feels structurally sound.

Special care will be taken for shipping this rare and historical pottery piece.
