The Murder on the Links

Author: CHRISTIE, Agatha
Title: The Murder on the Links
Publication: New York: Grosset and Dunlap, (1923) [1924?]

Description: Hardcover. Octavo, 298pp., plus advertisements at rear. A crisp, clean, very good or slightly better copy in the publisher's red cloth, stamped in black. Slight, even wear to the edges, as well as the corners, and a hint of foxing to the endpapers, but a nice, well-preserved copy, with a contemporary bookseller label on the rear paste-down. In a fine, positively stunning example of the rare dust jacket, which we suspect may be supplied (though this is how it came to us). Only the slightest offsetting near the front flap joint; enough of a flaw to confirm that the jacket is indeed original and not a well-executed facsimile! The American first edition of "Murder on the Links," published by Dodd, Mead, is among the most difficult to obtain in dust jacket. The G&D reprint was published within two years of the first Dodd edition, and the haunting, understated dust jacket art is identical. This reprint is similarly difficult to find in a nice jacket, and as such represents an excellent substitute for the budget-conscious Christie enthusiast. The first known G&D printing is approximated to 1924, which would seem to comport with titles advertised on both the book and the verso of the dust jacket. Very good + / fine.
