Here is a mid century Italian wooden lamp, very much in the style of Aldo Tura. I suppose copies were made when his designs became popular. It has been designed to resemble a parrot sitting on a branch and the trunk of the tree doubles up as the stem of the floor lamp. There is also another little branch which contains a dish or shallow bowl which was I guess originally intended as a container for an ash tray - so it is also a smoker's lamp.  The dish works just as well as a plant stand - a trailing plant would be perfect, or for a cup or tea or something stronger! It would be a real talking point in a tiki style bar. There is a crack in the wood at the base. It's difficult to spot because of where it is and the nature of the piece - it looks like it should be there. It has never shifted. The shade would have been like the shades in the photos of Aldo Tura lamps. Some kind of plastic parchment - synthetic, translucent and flexible. It must have split over the years and has been replaced with a poor replacement which is just card and hardly allows any light through. i think it looks better with just a bulb - but not the one i have used. More like one of those steam punk traditional bulbs easily available online. I have photographed the replacement 'shade' and will pass it on in case the buyer needs it as a template for a new one if they decide to experiment with a new shade.
Best collected, although I should be able to post it with a bit of measuring and fiddling about with boxes. If postage is less than estimate I will refund the difference. it probably won't be sent with Royal Mail - maybe Parcelforce.
Height to top of shade is approx. 56 inches
