Tektronix7B15 timebase plugin for Tek 7104 mainframe oscilloscope

This is the delaying timebase intended for use with the 7B10 timebase to deliver 200ps/division performance in the 1GHz 7104, or it can be used independently.  It will also work in any slower mainframe to the limit of that mainframe’s horizontal deflection specification.  More details can be found online on the excellent w140 dot com website, along with manuals in pdf form.

The overall physical condition of this unit is very good and, very unusually, the calibration stickers from 30 years ago are intact which gives confidence that it has not been messed with.  Every button works except for the MAGnification button, although the illuminated pushbuttons… are not.

Operationally the unit is erratic. Sometimes I could get a triggered trace but then it vanished.  Sometimes the timebase speed was shown as expected and then not. Same with the digital readout for the delay time.  I got three pics when it was working showing triggering performance is excellent at 1GHz and still worked out to the 1.9GHz limit.  The MAG button will not lock into the X1 position and so indicates X10 magnification is selected, but the actual speed is stuck on X1.

Note that there are probably other features that do not work as designed and will need investigation and work.  I am fairly confident that this unit can be brought back to reliable operation but no guarantees of course!  If not, then it will be useful as a source of otherwise unobtainium.
