Item: 20 rhizomes of Giant Miscanthus for planting, zones 4-9
- Giant Miscanthus, miscanthus × giganteus, is a sterile hybrid of Miscanthus sinensis and Miscanthus sacchariflorus.
- Ability to grow on marginal land and in relatively cold weather conditions, a good plant for privacy and ornamental gardening
- Rhizomatous C4 perennial grass, rapid CO2 absorption and significant carbon sequestration
- Grow in clumps, rhizomes spread horizontally 5 - 10 inches annually, depending on soil and temperature
- Can grow to heights of 10 ft in one growing season, high yield make it a favorite choice as a biofuel and biomass. Highly productive, dry mass yield is 10–40 metric tons per hectare (4.5–17.8 short ton/acre) per year
- We found it's a good substrate for mushroom cultivation, better and economical than woods chips
