Here I have the UK's first New Edition 1888 of Michael Strogoff- The Courier Of The Czar, by Jules Verne.

This edition was published by Sampson Low, Marston Searle & Rivington of Fleet St London in 1888.

It's 2 parts in 1 book. ( It's usually in 2 separate books )

It also includes his story - The Mutineers.

It has 89 illustrations, which are strong and clear.

2 detailed trifold maps inside

Translated by W.H.G. Kingston

Condition -

It is a hardback book with green, black, and gold fabric covering.

The covers' artwork is engraved, and the title and authors name are finished in gold gilt.

The book is complete.

The front cover has separated 3/4 of the way but is still attatched. Somewhere along the way, it has had celotape on the front and back covers. The celotape is very old, so it has come off and left a mark.

Please check all photos for a visual description.

It is inscribed in the front " Percy from Paddy" for the original owner.

Providence -

This was purchased by my grandfather in Australia from Angus & Robertson, Sydney, in the 1930s.

This is an extremely rare copy, specifically because of the maps, illustrations, 2 parts in 1 book, and the inclusion of The Mutineers.

It's been in my family nearly 100 years, and I would love someone to take good care of and love it as much as we have.
