Miniature Child’s or Doll’s Glass Tumble Up Nicholas Lutz c 1870s

Reference:  Doris Lechler, ‘Children’s Glass Dishes, China, and Furniture,’ pp 23 – Tu-6, 123-126. “…associated with delicately blown glass, in the Venetian style, in what is known as “Striped glass”.  Pieces of bright colored rods or canes were encased in a gather of clear glass which was rolled on a marver and then expanded to produce this special treatment which is found in miniature tumble up #6.”

 

Doris Lechler describes the process to produce this Venetian style miniature Tumble Up that was probably made by Nicholas Lutz sometime in the late 19th century.  The colors of the bands are white and pink.  It is an exquisite piece of miniature art.

Overall Height Together:  3.5” H

 

Please ignore the white glare reflections in the photos.  This scarce child’s or doll’s miniature Tumble Up is in excellent condition.  Presented as is and as found.
