c 1822-1836 MINTON 41-Pc Green Child’s ‘DRESDEN’ Dinner Set, Staffordshire Miniature

Reference: Doris Lechler, ‘English Toy China’, Figure No. 40, pp18, 128.  Quote from the book, “…earthenware is called ‘Opaque China.’  The flowers are transfers…”

‘DRESDEN FLOWERS’ is a scarce green transfer printed miniature 41-Piece Dinner Service that was made for a child by Minton c 1822 – 1836.  The bottom has the name of the pattern, ‘DRESDEN FLOWERS’ with an ‘M’ which stands for the maker, Minton, followed by a banner ‘Opaque China,’ all enclosed in one of their signature hallmarks.  Minton produced children sets with care and the potting and transfers are outstanding examples and reflect the same attention made for adult sets.  Some of the pieces are not marked.

Please excuse the white glare reflections in the photos.  You may notice that 3 of the 3.5” bowls do not have the extensive border as the other 4, but are part of this set and may have been added later to replace broken or missing pieces.  This ‘DRESDEN FLOWERS’ Child's Antique miniature Dinner Service is in excellent condition with the exceptions noted above.  Occasional transfer slips and smudges, glaze skips and ponding, light crazing, and additional minor typical firing imperfections sporadically may appear consistent with production from this period of time.  Presented as is and as found.
