"The Big Piece" played in college for the Southwest Missouri State Bears (now Missouri State University) and was the 1999 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. He was a 5th round pick in the 2001 MLB Draft selected by the Philadelphia Phillies, would make his MLB debut with the team in 2004, and go on to spend his entire career with the team (2004 to 2016). He holds numerous Phillies franchise records and several MLB marks. The first baseman was a 3× All-Star, World Series champion, NL MVP, NL Rookie of the Year, NLCS MVP, Silver Slugger Award winner, and NL Hank Aaron Award winner, and was a 2× MLB home run leader and 3× MLB RBI leader.
