Description

This auction is for a lot of SIX (6) antique or vintage
NON-WORKING or PARTIALLY-WORKING
brass ROUND clock movements.

THREE (3) of these movements are clearly from alarm-clocks;
but the other three (3) movements are from some other type
of wall, mantle OR carriage clock(s).

Found in my father's clock shed. My father has been repairing antique clocks for almost 40 years.
These movements are some of his collection of
leftover & scraped clock movements & parts.

Some of these movements may be mostly functional, as my father's customers often request
to have the mechanical movement replaced with a battery-operated movement. Also, it is often cheaper
to replace the movement rather than to spend the time repairing the original.

This lot contains the following movements:  The close-up photos of each movement include a board-game tile with a blue background & a capital alphabetic letter.
The letters correspond with the list directly below.

  1. BRASS MOVEMENT "A":  About 3 inches round in diameter.  Marked "ANSONIA CLOCK CO." & "MADE IN U.S.A.".
  2. BRASS MOVEMENT "B":  About 3½ inches round in diameter.  Marked "CHELSEA CLOCK CO.", "BOSTON CLOCK DIV", "2 JEWELS", "130-020" & "MADE IN GERMANY".
  3. BRASS MOVEMENT "C":  About 2 inches round in diameter.  Unmarked.
  4. BRASS ALARM-CLOCK MOVEMENT "D":  Plate movement is attached to is about 4½ inches round in diameter & the movement is an odd trapezoidal shape (Largest dimension is about 2 inches).  Only marked.  "MOVEMENT" & "MADE IN U.S.A.".
  5. BRASS ALARM-CLOCK MOVEMENT "E":  The movement is about 3 inches round in diameter.  Comes with the dial face plate & bezel (Marked "MADE BY THE NEW HAVEN CLOCK CO.") & back plate (both plates are brass as well).  Plates have a diameter of ~3¾ inches.
  6. BRASS ALARM-CLOCK MOVEMENT "F":  Rectangular movement inside of a round alarm-clock case (front-half only).  Glow-in-the-Dark dial & hands.  Case is about 5 inches round in diameter.  Marked "HARMONY HOUSE", "8 DAY ALARM" & "RADIUM".

I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT CLOCK REPAIR. I AM SELLING THESE PARTS FOR MY FATHER.

Origin/History: Found in my father's collection of clock parts. My father has been repairing antique & vintage clocks for almost 40 years. These movements are from his leftover scraped clock movements. Some may be mostly functional, as his customers often request to have the mechanical movements replaced with battery-operated ones. Also, it is often cheaper to replace the movement rather than to spend the time repairing the original one. I am selling these for him and I know very little about clock repair; so examine the photos carefully. Each movement is photographed on the front & back, plus several shots of the sides.

Condition: In very good to good; but non-working, condition. Salvaged clock movements for repair and/or part-harvesting. Some movements may be PARTIALLY functional. No major damage, only some minor scuffs & scratches.  Movements are dusty & dirty from years of storage, but are NOT corroded & are NOT rusted.  Movements are most intact, but may be missing part a small part or two & may have minor damage such as bent parts. No major damage, only some minor scuffs & scratches.  PLEASE FULLY-READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING. Any flaws, if present, will be either written about here in the condition section OR description section of the listing AND/OR visible in the photos. Therefore, you MUST examine ALL of the photos carefully, using the "SUPERSIZE" feature for each, as the photos often can illustrate the item’s condition better than any words can. Remember the photos are part of the description.

From a non-smoking/smoke-free & pet-free home.

Where appropriate, cleaning may have been done for photographic purposes.
