This is a rare Spanish barley-twist bronze candlestick, circa 1620; the only one I've been able to buy - they are usually 600 Euros & up in Europe. The group photo is for scale - both French ball baluster 'sticks will be offered. At least 2 barley-twists are illustrated in Schiffer's The Brass Book, but the dates are not accurate.

Many candlesticks I've kept are for pre-kerosene peg lamps - my peg lamp collection is very extensive. I'm also fairly sure that most treen "candlesticks" prior to about 1820 were only made for peg lamps - I have maybe 12 early treen 'sticks.

It has no repairs, and the patination is nice & dark, but the threading on the iron central shaft is loose, and the drip pan has a rim split (see photos). I've wound thread around the shaft to keep the stick upright, & from wobbling... Fast-drying wood glue or a metal epoxy would be better - there's no point in soldering if it is not necessary.

The 11th photo highlights a casting pin, frequently seen on Spanish 'sticks, usually towards the feet. 8 & 1/2" tall - foot diameter is 4 & 1/2", & the drip pan is 3". Weight is 600 grams.
