A beautiful example of the rare Suzuki LJ80, the grandfather of the popular Jimny model. Introduced in 1970, the LJ80 was Suzuki’s entry into the four-wheel drive market and was designed to be a smaller class of vehicle to meet Japan’s Kei car regulations. This example has been resprayed in an eye-catching Capri blue about 6 years ago (documented), at which time it also underwent mechanical recommissioning, including stripping the engine and rebuilding with new pistons, linings, bearings and gaskets. The body presents in rust-free good condition, although some scratches, chips and signs of use appear. The original matching numbers F8A 797cc engine purs along, getting up to 55mph and sitting comfortably at those speeds. It has the original 4 speed + reverse gearbox and 4x4 transfer case.

Recent servicing and upgrade work includes: new front brake pads (disc brakes), new flexi hoses, new aluminium radiator and hoses, new fluids (engine, gearbox, axles, brake), partial rewiring to harness and new relays, new ignition points, new battery. At the same time an interior refresh was carried out which saw a retrim in tan vinyl with complementary tweed fabric. Invoices are present for all of this work. The vehicle is MOT exempt, but has a first-time MOT pass certificate with no advisories conducted in February 2024.

The odometer reads 22,000km and is believed to have maxed and continued therefore (122k km). Car rides on a 15-inch steel wheels and Bridgestone all-terrain tires, all of which are in good condition. Please note there is an incorrect DVLA scrap marker against the reg number, which is not uncommon. I have email correspondence with the DVLA confirming that this is mistakenly assigned.

Overall a fun car to drive and always turns heads and ends up on people's instagrams. Would be fun for car shows, or just popping to the local pub.
