This is a fine, rare & unusually small French oak misericord - I've seen more than a dozen in France. The style is typically French Medieval, but as with other ecclesiastical antiques, is hard to specifically date - worst case, maybe circa 1600. I've seen quite a few on the greater Parisian market, & also at the annual European folk art show I attended, 2007 to 2020.

The brass "Wild Man" on top is German, & 14th or 15th century - these small brass or bronze figures are documented in reliable 1891 & 1933 French books on lighting. The only other brass "Wild Man" I've seen on the French market was 10 years ago – it sold for 800 Euros wholesale, when the Euro was at least 20% stronger than the dollar.

The hands are missing; the added top is 19th century, but old, as is the antique keyhole-shaped brass suspension hook. The misericord is 4 & 3/4" long by 3 & 1/2" wide (at the top) by 2 & 1/4"deep.

The misericord only weighs 180 grams, but will need to go in a box large enough to hold Customs documents.

Willship Worldwide (with exceptions – NO Conflict States).
