One great thing about collecting comic books is that it is still possible to find historic comics that have been previously undiscovered. The comic book offered here is so scarce that it has not been cataloged in any Price Guide.

This is a copy of DUBBLE BUBBLE FUN BOOK. This scarce giveaway promotional comic book was published in 1958 by FRANK H. FLEER Corporation of Philadelphia. FLEER produced DUBBLE BUBBLE brand chewing gum.

This premium comic book was produced by JOHNSTONE CUSHING Agency of New York. Johnstone Cushing produced a lot of giveaway comic books and also produced comic style ads for Sunday newspaper comic sections.

This features DUBBLE BUBBLE's boy mascot character PUD in fun comic adventures, including one where a beefy crook dresses up as a woman to try to rob a bank.

There are other funny comic stories as well, including a story where children dressed up for a costume party are mistaken for invading Martians.

The highlight of the comic book is a science fiction story called THE YELLOW ASTEROID. This was drawn by noted E.C. Comic artist GEORGE EVANS. This credit is unlisted anywhere.

This is a full size standard Silver Age size comic book. It has a slick cover, and full color interior pages for a total of 36 pages. This features great production values and nice color printing from the pros at Johnstone Cushing.

This features comic stories, activities and puzzles. There were special offers on the back cover for DUBBLE BUBBLE chewers to send in wrappers and money to get prizes and gifts. However, the back cover is stamped "THESE OFFERS NOW VOID".

The comic book has a "BIG 25 cent VALUE" printed on the front cover, but it was most likely distributed as a giveaway or premium for DUBBLE BUBBLE BUBBLE GUM chewers who sent in a certain number of bubble gum wrappers. How many of these were ever distributed and how many survived to today?

This comic is so scarce that it is unlisted in any PRICE GUIDE or online comic guide. There is a good chance this may be the first time you have seen this and it may be a long time before you see another copy!

CONDITION:  This copy has overall reading wear and some damage, but is solid, complete, and readable. There is wear to the spine, with a 1/2" piece out near the lower staple - see pic. There are 1/2" tears near the top staple, and some tearing near the bottom staple, but the staples are holding on to the cover. There are two 1/2" tears on the back cover near the spine. There is a 1/2" by 3/4" piece out of the bottom of the cover - see pic. There is some overall reading wear, with some bends and wrinkles. There is a 2 1/2" crease in the lower right corner of the cover - see pic. There are two 1/2" tears to the top of the cover near the spine - see pic. There is a 1/4" spot on the top of the back cover - see pic. There is a 1/2" tear to the top of the back cover - see pic. There is a 5" crease in the upper left corner of the back cover. There is a 1/2" tear on the right side margin of the first page. There are corner bends to several inside pages. There are several activity pages inside. One "Connect The Dots" page is completed in red pen. All the other activity pages are clean and unused. The inside covers are cream, the inside pages are supple off-white. Fragile, and with a lot of existing wear and some damage, still a solid copy that is nice to hold and read.
