Chinese late Qing bottle vase with a bulbous bottom and cone-form neck in four sections decorated in brilliant famille verte enamels on a white porcelain ground with a continuous scene of scholars seated at tables in a landscape setting engaged in conversation and scholarly pursuits. They are surrounded by a few attendants and a variety of animals scattered mainly in the sky and neck. Four applied high relief qilong climb up the sides and two unidentified creatures are above them on opposing sides of the neck. Late 19th century. 8 1/8” high. The recessed base is glazed and the slightly flared short, stepped foot is unglazed.  There are several chips to the qilong. The top is ground down and a fine brown hairline crack and small gold repair remain at the top. From the estate of Gerhard Lohmeier, a Diplomat at the German Embassy in Beijing from 1985 to 1989.
