This Ten Flowers mah jong set, made in the 1940s by A &L Mfg Co of New York, is simply beautiful. The set includes 154 rich, butterscotch Bakelite tiles that are evenly colored and butterscotch all the way through.

Naturally, the stars of this show are the ten delicate floral bouquets. They are hand-crafted and hand-painted, as shown by the delicate lines in each design. In addition to the bouquets, the Ten Flowers set is recognized for its rare "standing pheasant" one bamboo tile.

These tiles are on the chunky side and and have a very nice weight in the hands. They are in (surprisingly) wonderful condition for a set that is around 90 years old. The paint is in excellent condition as well. Each tile measures approximately 1-3/16 x 29/32 x 5/8 inches.

Also included are five deep red Catalin swirl racks with coin holders. The racks are in nice vintage condition with a few various marks and expected wear. Each rack measures approximately 18-1/4 inches long, with 15-3/4 inches of playing field.

This set looks even more stunning in person. I'm happy to provide photos of any specific pieces you have questions about. And I would be very happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this lovely set.
