This has been used as my smoothing plane for daily work in making custom furniture. I look after all my tools and tune them to work accurately. I have dialled this plane in over the few years I have been using it and it works flawlessly. No setup needed: no flattening, no fettling, no faffing - it is good to go.
The Clifton chip breaker originally came twisted and didn't perform well. I heated it in order to straighten it and to put a slight curve in it (length ways) - now it works really well, no gaps at all. I can vouch that this plane is tuned and working very well - if you would like me to take any videos or to answer any questions then let me know, Im very happy to. I will be happy to pass on a plane that works well to its next owner.
Iron is flat across with very slightly rounded corners - set up for smoothing (the frog on the plane is set up for a tight mouth). Working bevel set at 30 degrees. Back is dead flat. I sharpened it so you can start using it straight away.
