offered is a very nice late 1936 art deco AP automatic pocket petrol lighter. the fancy shape gold plated lighter features skyscraper modernistic art deco design on front with engine turned sides. the wonderful lighter was manufactured in the late 1930's by Altenpohl and Pilgram of Pforzheim, Germany. the mechanism was first invented by AP in 1936 as seen in Austrian patent. the unusual feature is the bottom pulls out to reveal spare fuel tank for extra long fueling. the AP is a quality well made automatic snap up mechanism lighter with good mechanics for action. the lighter measures about 1-3/4" tall x 1-1/2" wide and is in good to very good used untested condition. the gold finish shows mild age and lite crazing that slightly detracts but looks better in person. there is a tiny side edge scratch. the mechanism snaps up with tension but is untested with fuel. the lighter should operate with proper service. Overall - a colorful art deco modernist enamel German AP lighter for your collection.
