Offered for your consideration is a vintage Foster part # 49-1288 horn tweeter, manufactured in Japan in 1978. This tweeter was removed from my Zenith Allegro 3000 two-way speakers. Foster horn tweeters were also used by Cerwin-Vega and other brands in the 1970’s, but the buyer is responsible for verifying its suitability for their needs.

So, please take a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable Foster horn tweeter should be yours.

*Although the listing is written largely in singular to avoid any confusion, two (2) identical Foster 49-1288 horn tweeters are available at time of this writing. Please choose if you’d like to buy one or both in the quantity field at the top of the listing. The shipping cost will be automatically calculated by eBay checkout.

This Foster tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches to the sturdy black plastic chassis with silver-finished face. Plus, the diaphragm has been well-protected beneath the wave guide deep in the horn throat. And, the +/- terminals measure the standard .205”, are marked for polarity (white dot = pos), and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this is a very well-preserved Foster horn.

Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds very strong and clear with none of the harshness often encountered with larger metal horns. Plus, it’s nominally rated at 8 ohms and DC resistance tested at 7.8Ω. And, the mount flange measures 3⅞” diameter, it stands just over 3” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 2½” adjacent / 3 7/16” on the diagonal, c-t-c.

As pictured and described, this exceptional Foster horn tweeter is offered at a competitive price.
