Summary: This antique Tonka & Star-Kist Tuna Delivery Truck from the 1960s is a vintage toy collector's dream. Because this is a tonka restoration (which accidentally or purposefully features a ny-lint bumper), the dating can be difficult. From the headlights, it seems this is a late 1960s model. The wheels and front bumper feature signs of tonka, while the trailer and back are seemingly ny-lint. This is a unusual restoration, likley custom for someone into star kist. The restored and fully functional truck features a colorful multi-color design with the Star Kist theme. The pressed steel material and Ford model make it a valuable addition to any collection. The truck was manufactured in the United States in 1960, adding to its rarity. It's a must-have for any vintage toy enthusiast.

Condition
: The toy has likely been repainted and restored. The wheels and Axle are fully functional with no stress or resistance. There is a ny-lint bumper on the tonka car, clearly a restoration! Starting as a gardening tool company by the name of Mound Metalcraft, the Tonka company was formally founded in 1946 by Lynn Everett Baker (1898–1964), Avery F. Crounse, and Alvin F. Tesch in the city of Mound, Minneoeta (ref. 1). Remaining under the Mound Metalcraft brand, the company would not change its name to Tonka until 1955 (ref. 1). The company acquired its first production facility from Streater Company, who ceased toy production operations (ref. 1). The company's logo was made by Erling Eklof, who used the Dakota language to name the brand as Tonka (from the word tanka - great/big) (ref. 1). From 1947 to 1957, the logo of the company featured an oval encapsulating the red lettered brand name over seagulls flying over a large body of water, and was changed in 1958 to 1961 with the removal of the seagulls and to addition of red, white, and gray colors (ref. 1). By 1963, the logo's colors changed to red and gold, and by 1978 the oval was removed, thus only featuring the Tonka name (ref. 1). Expansion efforts in 1987 to purchase Kenner Parker and Palitoy using debt resulted in the unsustainable costs of debt service (ref. 1). Thus by 1991, Hasbro would purchase the company. With the brand's successful name, various side ventures were taken, such as brand licensing and developments of video games like Tonka Construction, and TV shows like the Pound Puppies (ref. 1). As of today, Hasbro owns the brand and licenses it to Basic Fun! (ref. 1).
