Watson and Sons were opticians and camera makers, founded in 1837 by William Watson.  In later years, the company remained in the same family, run by William's sons Charles and Henry.  The company quickly earned a strong reputation for the production of fine quality instruments.

Wear, and scratches is consistent with age and use. Instrument has been once polished years ago as can be seen.  Please see all photos, as they are part of the description.  The rack and pinion works fine and is very tight. There are no work or broken teeth in the rack assembly. The mechanical stage works smoothly in all cases.  The fine focus knob turns freely but the mechanism itself appears to not be operating and needs attention.  Stage clip exhibit some rust on surfaces. Generally in very good condition.
