LÖTZ JUGENDSTIL VASE
METALLGELB CYTISUS

AUSGEZEICHNET
LOETZ ART NOUVEAU VASE
METALLIC YELLOW CYTISUS
In the form of a blown, baluster-shaped body with a neck pressed five times and a flared, flat rim of the mouth.
SHAPE:
Production number PN 2/527 with plane mouth rim, year 1902
DECOR:
Metallic yellow Cytisus
Colorless glass, metallic yellow overlay, wrapped with red-violet, wavy stripes with rust-red veins, spots in silver-yellow-green-blue-violet with a mother-of-pearl luster scattered over the surface. Model-blown and shaped, reduced and iridescent, with an indicated
spherical polished pontil.
Vases with a Cytisus decor (laburnum) are all representatives of the most creative epoch of the Lötz glassworks. This colorful, effective and interesting rhythmic decor - which is also close to contemporary Viennese painting (e.g. Klimt's Beethoven cycle from 1902) - was used almost exclusively on vessels with lively wavy contours, which are also characterized by dynamic curves in the handles and
attachments that reach out into the space.
