Offered for your consideration is a vintage hand-held pencil sharpener crafted from Bakelite, manufactured c.1930 presumably in the USA. Bakelite developed in the early 20th century and was the first synthetic plastic. Its properties of strength and heat resistance made it suitable for use in many goods produced well into the 1950’s. This handsome butterscotch-colored pencil sharpener was tested with Simichrome as being made from Bakelite.

So, please take a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this neat Bakelite pencil sharpener should be yours.

This pencil sharpener is in relatively clean, very good condition. It measures 1” by 13/16” by ½” tall. There are no cracks, chips, or scratches to the attractive case, just some tarnish or oxidation to the removable steel blade element. Overall, it presents exceptionally well and is ready for action!

As pictured and described, this antique Bakelite pencil sharpener is offered at a competitive price.
