Rare 37" Chairry and 40" Pee-wee Herman, both signed and numbered, apparently from the JCPenney display of their in-house Pee-wee Herman store.
Pee-wee doll hand numbered on back of neck: #15/2000
Chairry bottom tag reads "No. 451 of 2000"
Copyright 1989 Herman Toys,Inc
See close ups of both.

This is larger than the full sized Chairry offered by Toys “R” Us about the same time. That one was more meant for kids to sit in, did not have the wooden feet, nor was it signed. (We bought our son the Toys ‘r’ Us one way back then, and my granddaughter has it now.) It is definitely not the most common set by Matchbox which is much smaller.

This is in rather good condition considering I got it from someone whose cats slept on it (with Pee-wee) for a few decades.
I have gently hand washed and hung to dry Pee-wee’s clothing, I have only gently wiped and vacuumed Chairry off—to take off the cover you need to remove the feet, and I would rather leave the decision to do that to you.

Chairry does have some minor visible staining, more noticeable staining on the edge bottom seam the underside and one small dime sized hole near that on the bottom back corner. I consider this the area of most damage. See photo.
Some roughness to the felt mouth area as shown.  You will need to zoom in on  the shot of the chair without Pee-wee in it to see the mouth up close.
Looks like a few kitty claw sized holes to the arm. See photo.

I opened the zipper as far as the 1st plywood foot on the chair -from what I can see the foam is still in good shape and there is no moldy mystery surprise going on in there. Looks like lovely foam above a particle board base.

Pee-wee is in quite good shape especially considering his age.
His legs appear to have been attached at the sideways angle so I do not consider this a flaw. Examine all the photos please carefully and hopefully you’ll come to the same conclusions.

A flawless numbered Chairry (with no doll) sold for $4750.00 in 2017 (Phillips auction house). That one apparently originally belonged to a Japanese fashion designed named Nigo.
An old ebay listing has the numbered Chairry and Pee-Wee together for $4,200.00. They claimed in the listing that the Pee-wee doll was the largest in size and rarest in number of any of the dolls produced by The Herman Toy Co. in the 1980s. They also wrote that less than 2,000 were probably made as the last original show was aired in 1990, and reruns pulled in 1991. They referred to this set as "the Holy Grail of Pee-wee collectibles", and claimed they were rarely found/sold together.
