Description

This is a restored IBM PS/2 L40 SX laptop computer.  It's regarded as one of the main predecessors to the famous IBM ThinkPad.

All leaking capacitors on the motherboard, and in the screen have been replaced.  Both boards have also been THOROUGHLY cleaned to remove all traces of corrosive electrolyte from the leaking capacitors.  You'll have a hard time finding a better L40 SX that's working, and ready to add to your collection.

It's in good overall condition for its age.   The keyboard shows minimal signs of use.  The outer case has minor scuffs and scratches.  One of the rear doors is missing.

The case is a neutral light gray with no noticeable yellowing.

The screen is in perfect with no bad pixels.  The back light is nice and bright.

The hinge is tight with no play.

It has DOS, and Windows 3.11 installed.

The battery is has been disassembled to remove the old, leaking Ni-Cd cells.  It's ready to install new cells if you want, or leave it as is to use it on AC power only.

In the box

You will receive the laptop, and original power adapter shown.  It also comes with a keyboard overlay, and setup floppy.  I will also include the original bad Ni-Cd cells to aid in rebuilding the battery.
