  • Beschreibung: Skizze eines urwüchsigen Dorfes im Alpenraum. Vermutlich Tirol, Südtirol, Österreich oder Schweiz. Ihre Ausbildung zur Künstlerin bei einigen der namhaftesten Künstlern ihrer Zeit, Karl Rottmann, Christian Morgenstern und Albrecht Adam, verdankte Therese Weber der Förderung ihres Onkels General Freiherr von Weber. Nach dem Tod ihres Vaters nahm dieser Therese bei sich auf und erkannte das Talent und die Neigung des Mädchens. Die Künstlerin bildete sich auf dem Gebiet der Landschaftsmalerei und Tiermalerei und beschäftigte sich mit modernen Sprachen sowie mit Geschichte und Literatur. Bei zahlreichen Reisen ins Elsass, nach Lothringen und ins Bayerische Inntal zeichnete und malte sie die Natur. Bei einer Reise an den Tegernsee lernte sie den Botaniker August Max Einsele kennen, der sie zur akkuraten Zeichnung der Pflanzenwelt und zur Erstellung eines malerischen Herbariums inspirierte. Therese Weber brillierte als Pflanzenmalerin und veröffentlichte etliche Sammelwerke zur heimischen Flora, besonders der Alpenländer. Die Studien nutze sie zudem selbst zur Dekoration von Fächern. Auch im späteren Leben begab die Künstlerin sich häufig auf Reisen, bei denen sie von einer adoptierten Waise begleitet wurde. Sie bereiste Italien, Frankreich und die Schweiz und nahm am gesellschaftlichen Leben teil. Im Alter von 62 Jahren erlag sie der Diphterie und verstarb am 30. Dezember 1875.

  • Zustand: Akzeptabler Zustand. Das Blatt ist ganzseitig stockfleckig. Die Blattecken sind durch Stoßspuren und Knicke beschädigt. Die obere Blattkante ist geringfügig durch die Herauslösung aus einer Buchbindung beschädigt. Mittig deutliche Fettflecken.

  • Description: Sketch of a rustic village in the Alpine region. Probably Tyrol, South Tyrol, Austria or Switzerland.

     

    Therese Weber owed her training as an artist to the encouragement of her uncle General Freiherr von Weber, who took her in after her father's death. After her father's death, he took Therese in and recognised the girl's talent and inclination. The artist trained herself in the field of landscape painting and animal painting and occupied herself with modern languages as well as history and literature. On numerous trips to Alsace, Lorraine and the Bavarian Inn valley, she drew and painted nature. On a trip to Lake Tegernsee she met the botanist August Max Einsele, who inspired her to draw the plant world accurately and to create a picturesque herbarium. Therese Weber excelled as a plant painter and published several compilations on the local flora, especially of the Alpine countries. She also used the studies herself to decorate fans. Later in life, the artist also travelled frequently, accompanied by an adopted orphan. She travelled to Italy, France and Switzerland and took part in social life. She succumbed to diphtheria at the age of 62 and died on 30 December 1875.

  • Condition: Rather good condition. The sheet is foxed on all sides. The corners of the sheet are damaged by bumps and creases. The upper edge of the sheet is slightly damaged by detachment from a book binding. Clear grease stains in the centre.
