This is an intricately engraved Lime Paste Case from Sri Lanka formerly Ceylon.  The noticeably heavy case is attached via a silver mail chain to a new replacement spoon made of Copper.  The piece was purchased by my expatriate father in the 1970's in Penang, Malaysia during the period he owned an Antique Shop on the island.  He only purchased from reputable local Antique Dealers on the island and I estimate the age of this piece dates to the latter part of the 19th Century.  Due to the large Tamil Community on the island it might have been brought with laborer (s) working on one of the rubber estates in the interior of the island in the 1800's.  Please refer to all pictures in regards to the overall Condition of this item.

Case Dimensions: 6 1/2 inches long, 4 1/2 inches wide & 3 inches high in depth.  Weight: 19 ounces (539 grams)

Silver Chain & Copper Spoon Dimensions: Heavy Silver Chain is 15 1/2 inches long & Copper Spoon is 2 3/4 inches in length
