This book documents the lives and major events of York County, Pennsylvania, from its formation in 1749 to its 1885 landscape. Beginning with the first court sessions of the quarter, and continuing with notes from early court records, we see the trials, legal proceedings, and other events that shaped the county. It includes a list of post offices and their postmasters in 1832, and a list of the county's officials during the book's timeframe. The book provides a look into the formation and early history of York County, including the establishment of municipalities, the construction of public buildings, and the lives of its earliest residents. It ends with a series of genealogical tables tracing the names, birth records, marriage records, and deaths of its earliest settlers.
