Intro:
James May goes on a mission to reconnect today's youth with some of Britain's best loved toys of yesteryear. In an effort to get kids to put down their games consoles, the technology-enthusiast introduces the new generation to the pleasures, frustrations and ultimate sense of accomplishment found in Plasticine, Lego, Airfix, Scalextrix, Meccano and model railways. Each toy is explored in a group project on a giant, often surreal scale, designed to unite family members of all ages and reawaken the big kid in all of us.

Description:
James puts an iconic toy to the most ambitious test ever attempted. The challenge: to build a motorbike and side car entirely out of Meccano to take on the Isle of Man s legendary TT circuit

But designing a machine capable of carrying James and his passenger, wine expert Oz Clarke around the daunting 37 mile course is not a task for the fainthearted.

A mind-bending 15,000 pieces of Meccano must be assembled to create a full size, road legal motorcycle that James hopes will be more than a match for the treacherous twists and turns, steep climbs and dizzying descents of the world s toughest race circuit.

And if that isn't hard enough, as in the real TT, the bike must race against the clock.

It's the ultimate test of man and machine. The challenge pushes this 100 year old toy and its riders to the absolute limits. Breakdowns, crashes and unforgiving terrain vie with design genius, good humour and sheer grit to produce a nail biting film which brings Meccano roaring back into the 21st century to inspire the inner child within us all.

Who is James May?
James Daniel May was born on January 16, 1963 in Bristol, England. He went to Oakwood Comprehensive School and graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Music. Throughout his career he has written for various car magazines and currently writes a weekly column for The Daily Telegraph and the monthly publication Top Gear.

He is the co-host of the BBC2 show Top Gear along with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond and has earned the nickname Captain Slow for usually finishing last in all of the competitions held on the show. He owns a Bentley T2, a Range Rover, a Porsche 911, a Porsche Boxster S and several bikes and holds a full light aircraft private pilot's license. He is unmarried and currently lives in Hammersmith, West London with his cat Fusker.

5. Import Taxes/Duties:

  1. Deliveries to Australia, New Zealand and Asian region are all inclusive of any GST, taxes and import duties, etc. If the delivery service asks you to pay any taxes, etc please contact me immediately so that I can assist.

  2. Deliveries to European Union countries are inclusive of VAT via the handling charge but may incur local import taxes that are the responsibility of the buyer/receiver to fulfil/pay. If you decide not to pay these taxes and chose to refuse delivery, please advise so that I can fully refund you upon receipt of returned goods.
