1967 AUTO RACING COUGAR -MUSTANG -CAMARO-Z/28 DODGE DART PHOTO DAYTONA TRANS AM

This is a great photo of the Daytona 300 Mile Trans-American Race held on February 3rd, 1967 at the Daytona International Speedway. This is the leading group of cars on the front stretch at the start of the race. Number 15 the fastest qualifier, Parnelli Jones(105.022 mph) in a Mercury Cougar and leads the pack for start. He ended up finishing third overall. Number 16 the second fast qualifier(104.860 mph) is Dan Gurney in a Mercury Cougar (D.N.F.in race.) Mark Donohue is in the number 36 driving a Chevrolet Camaro (D.N.F. in race.) #68 Ford Mustang is Jerry Titus (4th overall) #12 Ford Mustang is Dick Thompson. #77 Ford Mustang is Peter Lake. #44 Dodge Dart is Bob Tullius(of Group 44 renown), who was the overall winner with an average speed of 99.361 mph. It was a 300 mile race which is 79 laps on the 3.81 mile circuit. #69 Ford Mustang is Ed Lowther. #76 Ford Mustang is John McComb. The race was run under two classes, over 2 liters and under 2 liters. Tullius's Dodge Dart was powered by a 273 cubic inch V-8 motor.Maximum allowable engine size is 300 c.i.d. Peter Gregg in the number 59 Porsche 911 won the under 2 liter class, which was fifth overall. This is a crisp and clean 8 X 10 inch glossy black and white real photo taken from the original negative. It is in perfect focus and is in mint condition.
