Rising out of the social and political tumult of the early 60's, the Clancy Brothers Tom, Patrick, Paddy and Liam, along with musical partner Tommy Makem, drew from the same melting pot as fellow folk pioneers, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Dave Van Ronk and Odetta. Dressed in trademark Aran sweaters, the group were master interpreters of the genre, crafting their own boisterously spirited brand of folk music. Their rousing songs served as a blue-collar rallying cry for the working class, delivered with trademark power and gusto. This prestigious headlining show at Carnegie Hall solidified the groups standing as international folk singing sensations and caught them at the zenith of their creative powers. Recorded on St. Patrick's Day March 17, 1963, The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem in Person at Carnegie Hall, expands the seminal original 38-minute release and captures the groups complete two-hour performance, culling such classics as "The Jolly Tinker, " "Bonnie Prince Charles, " "Jug of Punch" and "The Patriot Game." with this historic recording, music fans of all ages can once again revel in the magical blend of their distinctive voices ringing out loud and clear, ageless and joyous.
