1930's Arts & Crafts pewter clad green glass decanter

This lovely piece is in very good condition.

The decanter is made from dark olive green glass and has a lovely Art's & Craft's almost industrial style design in pewter wrapped around the neck of body. There are small domed buttons to the design simulated to look like nail heads. The stopper is a cork with a hammered pewter top. Decanters such as this were made in the glass houses of Denmark and also the Netherlands around the 1930's. Sometimes they are marked but in this case there are no identifying features.

The decanter has a slightly recessed base as shown and I would have thought it was made for liqueurs. It has a triangular shape with deeply dimpled sides. There is no damage to the piece. There is darkening and patina to the pewter with the stopper having irregular colouring. If you required a bright finish to the pewter it could be polished by  professional. The glass is clear and shows no clouding. The pewter rim to the bottle spins around and the inner rim is irregular as shown.

The decanter is 250mm tall including the stopper. The base is 75mm across and the piece is 95mm at the widest.
