Ricky Skaggs maintained his status on the country charts in 1984 with Don't Cheat in Our Hometown. Skaggs' combination of bluegrass, honky tonk, and pop material reigned at the center of country music in the early to mid-'80s, unquestioned here given the presence of the chart-topping "Honey (Open That Door)," a cover of Bill Monroe's "Uncle Pen," and the title track originally made famous by the Stanley Brothers, to whom the album is dedicated. ~ Al Campbell
