The Ultra Jazz 5™ has many of the same qualities as the 4-string Ultra Jazz™, but it's been specifically designed to meet the demands of 5-string basses. By means of a unique application of Virtual Vintage® technology, the Ultra Jazz 5™ both cancels hum and produces balanced power and frequency response across all five strings. Although designed for passive operation, the Ultra Jazz 5™ also performs excellently with many active onboard preamps.
Recommended For
Neck and bridge position. Important Note: The cover dimensions of the Ultra Jazz 5™ are not the same as 5-string Fender Jazz Bass®. The Ultra Jazz 5™ therefore cannot be installed as direct replacements on these basses without modification.
Tech Talk
The appearance of the Ultra Jazz 5™ is traditional, but the wide dynamic range and frequency response of the hybrid magnetic structure allows both vintage and modern sounds. Hum-cancellation is achieved by using Virtual Vintage® technology to suppress 60-cycle noise, with one coil sensing the "B", "E", and "A" strings, and the other coil sensing the "D" and "G" strings. While the basic sound of the pickup is similar to the 4-string Ultra Jazz™, it's been adjusted to keep the tonality and response as consistent as possible from the "B" string to the "G" string. Particular care was taken to keep the low "B" string big-sounding without becoming muddy.

All our auctions are now set-up to only accept Immediate Payment through eBay checkout. Local collection is fine. We're in Leigh near Manchester (WN73JW). If the auction won't allow you to select local pickup - then please contact us with the details of the item you want and we can arrange collection. If you are buying more than one item PLEASE use the ebay "shopping basket" feature, which allows you to temporarily place your multiple purchases on hold and then make ONE payment for them at the end. We will do our best to adjust/refund for combined postage by way of a Paypal refund.
We always post items quickly and we generally post on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and more often in busy periods. Please note : The Royal Mail DO NOT regard a Parcel/Package/Letter lost until 15 workings after the expected date of arrival for Domestic items and 25 days for International items. If you haven't received your item, please email or phone us giving us as much info as possible. We will then email you a claims form which needs to be filled completely and posted back to us to enable us to make a claim. All items will be sent well packed and in new self-seal Jiffy bags or boxes in the case of larger items.
Returns will be accepted In line with the UK DSR's, as long as we are notified within 7 days from delivery date, postage will be at your expense. Feedback will be left for you once it has been left for us. We are 110% certain you will be happy with any item you purchase from Cottam Guitars, and we'll therefore assume you are happy with your purchase once you have left feedback for us and also take this as confirmation that you have safely received your item/s.
