    AeroOutserts™ are made of high quality forged 7075-T7 Aluminum to address the needs for ultra thin archery projectile requirements.  AeroOutserts take arrow performance to an all new level as AeroOutsert protecting and strengthening the new generation arrow shaft without adding much weight via our Blood Channels™ (US PAT.).  AeroOutsert also allow one to use conventional arrow points instead of proprietary ultra thin components.

    AeroOutserts out-compete common insert/half-out serts.  Common 0.165"-0.166” size arrow insert/half-out insert is only half good at best comparing with AeroOutsert as the neck of the point and the threads might be off concentric from the insert/half out insert.  This is due to the fact that all ID (Internal Diameter) based components may not be concentric with the arrow as the wall thickness of the arrow may not be perfectly equal due to center-less grind process which is usually employed for this class of arrow (usually with 0.166" ID).  Thus arrow installed with common insert/half-out serts cannot achieve perfect concentricity while those installed with AeroOutsert can as the AeroOutsert uses the outer diameter instead of the inner diameter of the arrow for installation.

    AeroOutserts also out-compete traditional outserts which suffering from perimeter wedging effect as AeroOutsert Blood Channel is designed to minimize this effect.  The Blood Channel is a plurality of axial slots which are machined over the outer perimeter of the AeroOutsert and these axial slots gradually taper inward towards the center line of the AeroOutsert.  The feature of Blood Channel relieves the pressure built up over the outer perimeter of the arrow, thus reducing wedging effect.  This feature allows one to pull out arrow from a penetrated object easily, while without sacrificing weight and strength but in fact increasing strength and ease of use.  Below is the technical drawing of an AeroOutsert, front end of arrow shaft, and a field point in exposed view with exact dimension (Outlined in blue is the AeroOutsert).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Some customers may face installation issue while trying to PERFECT fit an AeroOutsert into their arrows.  Being an outsert system, it needs to fit the outside diameter of an arrow as perfect as possible.  In the case of most carbon arrows, the inside diameter is the only dimension of the shaft that is controlled as it is rolled on the mandrel, therefore it is the only size that is close to accurate.  The fact that most arrows are rolled, the thickness of the shaft will be determined by how much is being sand off after it is rolled and cured.  Thus, the outside diameter of the arrow is usually not exact.  To make matter worst, for most of this class of shaft (0.166" ID) a center less grind process is usually employed, which this may lead the published OD and the ID be inaccurate.  Experience showed when installing AeroOutsert on various arrows confirmed that some of the manufacturer's published arrow OD sizes are only for reference, which their size can vary as much as 0.004" or 0.11mm.  Case in point, the Victory VAP is published as 0.245" OD but actual measurement is 0.248" which it will actually fit 6.31mm AeroOutsert best, not 0.245"/6.22mm.  In case of the Easton Injexion 480, within a dozen arrows that we had tested and measured, their OD can vary from 5.836mm to as large as 5.864mm; which this made 5.83mm the correct size as one can always make the shaft smaller by light circular sanding.

   Base on tests that have been done, it is believed the best way to install an outsert system is firstly to get the right size of AeroOutsert for the outside diameter of your arrow, then try to dry fit AeroOutsert into every arrow.  Sometimes, some shafts may be difficult to fit or be too tight to fit AeroOutsert, slight circular sanding the outside diameter of the shaft will solve the issues.  As long as one uses the ultra fine sand paper (220 grid or finer) and sands the shaft in a circular fashion, the shaft concentricity should not be off after sanding.  After sanding, dip the sanded shaft end in pure acetone and then clean the inside of the AeroOutsert using Q-tips with acetone. Acetone is what is found to be the best cleaning agent for any AeroOutsert before gluing.  For ultra tight fit and fast installation, any fresh CA type glue (super glue) should work well.  For loose fit installation, one can use slow set epoxy and keep turning it with the arrow standing up which this will help to keep AeroOutsert concentric to the arrow.  One should keep the arrow upright after one has confirmed that the AeroOutsert is concentric to the shaft via spinning and then just let the glue curing itself.  If the arrow is laid horizontally while using slow set epoxy, shaft will be no longer concentric.

 

    AeroOutsert is now available in 12 sizes (5.68, 5.77, 5.83, 5.89, 5.97, 6.06, 6.12. 6.15, 6.22, 6.31, 6.33 and 6.50 mm) and weight 30.5 to 33 +/- 1 grain respectively depending on size.  The larger size / hole, the weight of the AeroOutsert will be lighter.  AeroOutsert are anodized in black with their size and Firenock brand laser marked on the AeroOutsert for clear identification and great outlook.
