21" Antique Dresden Germany Porcelain Lamp with Applied and Painted Flowers. The white ground porcelain lamp is hand painted with colorful antique flowers, and applied pink, gilt and pale blue porcelain Forget-me-nots. The entire lamp is decorated with stems of applied pink and pale blue Forget-me-nots and green leaves. The top part of the lamp has a bulbous shape that is decorated with the applied and painted flowers. The long slender stem tapers in the middle with curved porcelain forms. The top part of the stem has lattice-shaped porcelain with applied flowers on two sections and hand painted flowers on two sections. The tapered, curved section is decorated with insects, and pink and white flame designs at the bottom part. This center section ends with a curved shape under which is an indented pink floral-shaped piece. The round base has a raised center with pink and blue (soft colors) leaf shapes. The base has two large porcelain lattice sections with applied small flowers and two large solid sections with hand painted flowers. Each section is separated by stems of Forget-me-nots. The entire lamp is decorated with swirling and curved shapes in pink, gilt and blue. The base is set on four decorative feet. The top bulbous part is a separate form that is attached to the lamp. The top metal part of the lamp is not drilled into the porcelain stem -- you can convert the lamp to oil. The lamp is marked with a blue X Mark Germany and a T for "Carl Thieme Saxonian Porcelain Factory, Potschappel, Saxony, Germany (E. Germany) Porcelain 1888 - 1901, (Saxonian Porcelain Manufactory Dresden)".
SIZE: 17 inches high -- does not include the top metal parts x 9 1/2 inches wide at the base.
CONDITION: Very good condition. There are some losses to the applied flowers -- and some thin material loss where the bulbous part attaches to the stem. The lamp is very stable, and appears to be held together with a metal rod -- the end seen on the base. The wire should probably be repositioned. This piece is heavy and will require very secure double boxing.
