DESCRIPTION
Abel’s Sealed Drag Reel consists of multi-stacked discs of machined aluminum and a proprietary Rulon® composite, all housed in a fully sealed cartridge. This means no maintenance required. The aluminum discs are hard anodized for abrasion resistance and lightly lubricated to allow free motion for a lifetime of protection under heavy operation. The proprietary Rulon® has a low coefficient of friction, excellent abrasion resistance, and chemical inertness over a wide range of operating temperatures. The innovative design also yields incredibly low startup inertia to protect fine tippets, while still giving plenty of stopping power for slowing down the fastest running fish.
These Abel Sealed Drag reels are not big and bulky like other sealed drag reels. The dimensions match that of the conventional Abel Super series reels. The sealed drag reels from Abel are totally waterproof. That means no corrosion, no maintenance, and no failures. The anodized frame of these reels is finished in Abel fashion. These Sealed Drag Reels have both "in and out" click.
These Abel Sealed Drag Reels are built as left-hand (LH) retrieve or right-hand (RH) retrieve. They are not convertible, except by returning to the factory.
This particular Abel Sealed Drag 5/6 fly reel is decorated in the DeYoung Cutthroat Flank pattern. Derek DeYoung is a renowned outdoor artist. His patterns for Abel Reels have become wildly popular and very collectible.
Abel Quality Products is now more than 27 years old as a company. It was founded by Steve & Gina Abel in Camarillo, California. Steve and Gina sold the company about 5 years ago, but the Abel traditions continue. They are known for making fine products that will last you a lifetime in a very creative fashion.
