Description:  A very nice example of the first printing of the first edition in its original dustwrapper. The dustwrapper is in very attractive condition with just a hint of very light wear and slight toning to the spine (see pictures). Original 12s 6d price to inside front flap. The book itself is in excellent condition with no obvious signs of wear (see pictures). Clean, bright and free of inscriptions.  A really very nice copy.

Kethleen Raine (1908-2003) was born in Ilford, Essex. An admirer and acute critic of W B Yeats, she wrote several volumes of very highly regarded poetry. She famously cursed Gavin Maxwell for being resolutely homosexual and thus resistant to her charms; as a result his pet otter died and they became estranged.
