New or reclaimed from industry materials: Deerskin, acrylic paint, brown waxed cord

Secondhand/recycled materials: Breyer Western Horse, wooden wheeled platform, black yarn, gold embroidery thread, wood stain

I love the old Breyer Western Horse. He's the first model ever created by the company, originally adorning 1950s-era clocks and lamps. Because of his quiet stance, he's often overlooked as a custom possibility. However, I had a rather badly scratched and rubbed palomino Western Horse, and decided to give him a makeover that accentuated his solid footing.

He's now a gorgeous vintage-style pull toy! He's painted in acrylics, black with a white star, and brown and gold bridle and harness. His reins are made from braided embroidery thread, waxed cord and yarn, and he has a permanently attached saddle made of leather accentuated with black and gold paint. I rescued the wheeled platform he stands on from a last-chance thrift store, and stained it with secondhand wood stain from an art supply reclamation nonprofit here in Portland. More details in acrylics adorn the sides, and it has a hand-braided pull cord.

It does have a few minor flaws in the paint and a small hole in one ankle and is NOT LSQ; however, it turned out rather nicely all around and would be a great display piece. It is NOT meant to be a child's toy! The entire piece is 13" long x 10" wide x 11 1/2" tall.

This horse will be shipped with insurance and delivery confirmation; please note the shipping costs reflect the large size of this piece and the need to package it securely.
