isocal Plus Intro Kit
It is a radiopaque, ready-to-use calcium hyroxide dressing containing sterile isotonic saline with a pH > 12.5.
Indication:
- High pH (12.5) helps neutralize free acids of obturating cements and restorative materials
- Reduces Hypersensitivity of dentine
- Radiopacity for cheking treatment
- 45% calcium hydroxide content helps the neoformation of secondary dentine
- Perfect pulp protection
- Hardens rapidly
- Syringe for direct application
- Indirect capping for the treatment of caries profunda
- Direct capping when the pulp is opened or a pulpotomyis performed
- Lining of cavities to prevent exposure to acid media when using cements
- For temporary filling of root canals if rooth growth has not terminated yet
- Temporary disinfectant dressing, applied during endodontic therapy
Clean and dry the cavity before applying isocal Plus in the layers until the desired thickness is reached. isocal Plus may reduce the detrimental effect exerted on the pulp-dentin complex by cements mixed with acids. No side effects known to date.Application
For direct and indirect pulp capping
- With the help of the enclosed Endo Tips, small amounts of paste are dispensed onto the mixing pad. Following this, isocal Plus is applied to the exposed pulp or dentin near the pulp in thin layers and small patches using a suitable instrument. Subsequently, the surface is sealed with a layer of cavity lining material. It is important to observe contraindications.
As a temporary disinfectant dressing
- When using isocal Plus as a temporary disinfectant dressing, first prepare and clean the rooth canal (hydrogen peroxide 3% and sodium hypochlorite) then introduce isocal Plus directly into the prepared and dried rooth canal with the enclosed Endo Tips or a lentulo spiral, and then spun up the canal to the apical region with the lentulo. Application may be repeated, if necessary. Tight sealing of the endodontic cavity using temporary filling material is essential in order to avoid the contamination of the rooth canal system which can occur between appointments. Removal of isocal Plus is accomplished by a suitable irrigation solution and instrumentation. The isocal Plus paste needs to be removed before final obturation.
Contraindication
- Direct pulp capping after exposure of the pulp in carious dentin, if:
- The area of exposure is larger than 1.2 mm
- A completely dry field cannot be established
- The treatement of the tooth cannot be completed in one appointment
- The tooth concerned is already causing discomfort
- Direct and indirect pulp capping if the pulp damage is irreversible
- isocal Plus should not be used on patients with a known allergy to any of the ingredients listed
