Terminology Definitions

  • Digital  WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)- Wide dynamic  range is a feature in Infilux cameras that handles a wide range of lighting variations  within a designated area. For example, an area with extremely bright and dark  areas or in backlight situations where a person is in front of a bright window,  most cameras would produce an image where objects in the dark areas would be  hard to see. WDR technology  solves this by applying various techniques to enable objects in both bright and  dark areas to be visible.
  •
  • Digital  Noise Reduction- method by which the camera’s imager digitally removes  the noise.
  •
  • 3D  DNR- an advancement technology which enables noise to be filtered even  more effectively from the image, even in low light conditions.
  •

    • 90DB- decibels represent the ratio of digitized  light levels that image sensors can detect.   The higher the number, the better the video will be, despite  high-contrast scenes.
    •

  • IR cut  filter- designed to reflect or block mid-infrared wavelengths while  passing visible light.
  •
  • ROI (Region  of Interest)-  allowing a high  sufficient compression ratio.  It can  ensure important information and effectively compress image data.
  •
  • PoE (Power  over Ethernet)- a technology for wired Ethernet LANs that allows the  electrical current necessary for the operation of each device to be carried by  the data cables rather than by power cords.   Minimizes the number of wires that must be strung in order to install  the network
  •
  • Lux- the SI derived unit of illuminance and luminous emittance, measuring luminous  flux per unit area.  It is equal to one  lumen per square meter.  This is used as  a measure of the intensity, as perceived by the human eye, of light that hits  or passes through a surface.
  •
  • H.265- High Efficiency Video Coding. A video compression standard.
  •
  • H.264- Advanced video coding and a block-oriented motion-compensation-based video  compression standard.
  •
  • P2P- Peer to Peer. Allows linking security cameras to a smartphone.
  •
  • ActiveX- A set of object-oriented programming technologies and tools that Microsoft  developed for Internet Explorer to facilitate rich media playback.
  •
  • CMS (Central  Management Software)- our professional monitoring platform that allows  you to centrally manage multiple devices at multiple locations, from a single  interface.
  •
  • StreamView- An IOS/Droid App that allows a user to view camera displays from a mobile  device.
