Belling Lee automatic flashing side lights...  NOS and in original packet... never used.

These were born from the very sudden disappearance of the trafficator.  Within a 2 year period, around 1958, the trafficator vanished... as the flashing light idea was (obviously) so much better.

But what to do with all the cars on the road still with trafficators? Many did nothing.  Many people hardwired flashers and blanked off the trafficators... some of these "bodgo" home-handyman messes are still haunting today's renovator... all needing reversing.

But others just wanted a quick solution with no hole-cutting, no wiring changes etc (remember this is the early sixties... people simply didn't have a drill at home, let alone holesaws).  These Belling Lee lights were one such solution on the market.

You must remember that at this time, people LOOKED IMMEDIATELY to the SIDE of the car for the indicator, NOT the rear of the car...

Cleverly made to simply click in just like a trafficator to your existing trafficator setup... 5 minutes and done!!

It replaced the constant-12volts-trafficator with a flashing light on the side of the car... all without altering the car's setup at all.  Note how it has "a miniature flashing circuit built into each one" ( a wonder of the age)

This new purple paragraph explains an important point.  To fit it through escutcheons... or panels like with MM convertibles... the yellow disc is obviously too WIDE.  so what you do is remove the yellow disc shell by undoing two small hidden screws.  Then with the fat discy bit OFF, you then quickly load the Belling Lee light straight in where the trafficator was (easy as uses lucas std mounting).  The black bit is the skinny bit passing through the escutcheon.. or the panel hole... THEN, you screw the fatter discy moon bit back onto the Belling Lee light...  on the other side of the panel.  Thus it means no modifying.  (see last 2 photos).

I can't see too many of you actually installing them permanently, as trafficators are now "way-cool"; but they would be interesting as  a show swap-over... or just as a display collection-piece, as strangely enough... these are far rarer than trafficators !!!!

They can swapped fast if you use a nice modern quick-connect "+"  and earth connector. They simply fit on the bent-tongue and machine screw used standard by Lucas.

READ THIS OVERSEAS.   Freight overseas will be only UPS private courier.  These weigh 1kg .  Yes, Australian freight is expensive, this is thru a wholesaler... retail is beyond belief...  and will be about $55 USA up to $75 to Europe and more for middle east.  This is  one week tracked insured. Ebay the moron does not allow me to write anything except post-office , so whatever it is saying there is NOT, I repeat NOT,  necessarily valid.  I charge what UPS costs, no more, and no less.   Simply pay what it says... i will fix it up with a refund or extra . I have no idea at all what ebay has put there for you... their strange machinations are a mystery to all.   The Post-office is extremely slow, expensive and utterly unreliable. UPS is fast, and trackable and reliable.  Whatever Ebay says is NOT VALID. Complain to them not me, it is their dumb system.

Effective 1 july 2017 , is an across-the-board increase of 2% at retail sales-level which will help me pay for the new "netflix" tax dreamed up by the aust govt loafers, no doubt to pay for their latest perks, fripperies and general extravagance. .. This tax at retail-sales-commission comes directly out of the much smaller profit margin Ebay stores make. Be aware YOU are paying yet another new sly tax.
