For the first time ever, Elector Ludwig saw this Madonna during his Italian travel in 1808 and set his sights on the picture.He spent a lot of money and efforts in order to obtain it.And only in 1818 did the picture arrived in Munich.This Painting Is In Stunning Comparison to the Original the Only Difference Is Jesus's Facial Expression Has Shifted To Be More Alert And Madonna's Mouth Is Closed Instead Of Open As The Original On Display.If you have not noticed This Painting is indeed VERY OLD.Please Use the ZOOM Feature To Zoom in on the Photo Where The Panel Painting Is Laying Down There Is Two Photos Similar However One Shows Two Pieces Of Wood.The FRONT PIECE Which in this Photo Would Be The LOWER WOODEN PANEL is Very DARK this is True Indication Of Age.And The Top Wooden Panel even though Also Showing Signs Of Being Older Wood It Is Not The Same Age As The Original Bottom Piece.One would Assume that the Backside Newer Wood Was Most Likely Shaped (Rounded) To Fit Like A Glove (Directly Flush Wood To Wood).As the Original Piece HAD Already Naturally Warped i would also like to ADD this fact, Old and i Mean Very Old Pieces On Panel Are Known To Warp Split And Crack With AGE Time Will Do This.It Is Obvious That The Previous Care Taker Of This Piece Had It Just Put Away Not Keeping In Mind What Age Would Or Could Do To The Wood But It Is With Us Now And We Do Care For All Of Our Collections.So Is This A Study From An Antique Italian School?
