This watch should be considered as a repair/project watch with new, extra ETA 2836-2 movement.

This is my Fortis Official Cosmonauts Automatic Day/Date 200m Diver watch. I'm the original owner and purchased new. This watch  is not working properly and needs repair work.

This watch had been a fantastic watch for the first several years, it  ran +/- 2 to 3 seconds in 24 hours. At the six to seven year point I decided to  take it in for normal routine maintenance service to a local watch shop. This watch repair shop was to perform this  watch’s first-ever routine maintenance of cleaning, lubrication, and calibration. Before this, the watch was working perfectly, and had just started to not keep its +/- 2-3 seconds per day that it had since new. The shop apparently"broke" the movement and said they could not fix it. I then took the watch to another shop who said they could fix it. This second watch repair tech decided that it would be best (or easier) to buy and install a brand new ETA2836-2 movement. The Fortis engraved oscillating weight was switched to the new movement as part of this procedure. The watch came back working and keeping good time but was still not quite right. The movement was "loose" in the case, which could be seen when you pulled the crown out to adjust time(possibly the mount screws not being installed correctly.) Also, the day/date wheel was not in exact alignment with the window. The serviceman said that the dial feet were "broken" and he had reset with epoxy. I was never given an answer on what is wrong with the original factory supplied movement, but it might be an easy repair for another watch repair shop or person.

The brand new ETA 2836-2 movement currently installed in the watch should be fine, and is still like new. The original movement is not working properly.

The case and bracelet brushed finish was redone at the end of 2017 and is in good condition.
