Dutch Delft BLUE & WHITE Vicar & Moses, Signed Bloompot c.1880, with Provenance

Antique Dutch Delft Blue & White Bloompot Pottery Figurine- Vicar & Moses, c.1880, Rare 19th Century Signed BP mark

This is an antique Dutch Delft Blue & White pottery figurine known as The Vicar and Moses. This themed figurine is made in the likeness of the famous model of The Vicar & Moses, a famous 18th Century English Staffordshire figurine by Ralph Wood.

The modeling, painting, and glaze on this figurine are masterfully done; the faces have great expressions! The figurine is decorated in a blue and white enamel floral motif and stylized décor. The underside base and interior are glazed in white. The rim foot is unglazed.

On the underside, there is an under glaze blue maker's mark of B.P. on the inside of the base. BP stands for the mark of De Velugde Bloompot, or Bloompot, a Dutch faience pottery factory founded in 1761.

Two old labels on the underside show a historical provenance: MEEKS COLLECTION NO. C-79 and ELEANOR SAWYER COLLECTION.

Delftware (Delft) is tin-glazed earthenware produced in the Netherlands from the 16th century to the present day.

The estimated date is circa 1880, or earlier, late 19th Century.
