How easy are they to keep?

Generally an easy fish to keep, best to keep in a aquarium with plants an driftwood. A fish that is widely used in planted aqua scape, as they are great algae eaters when kept in groups. A fish that will be attached on glass, plants, driftwood constantly eating algae.

How big do they grow?

They can get around 4.5cm

What is the best sized tank for these?

A minimum of 30 Litres to house a group of these nano catfish.

What is best to feed them?

Herbivore, will eat algae that has naturally grown, excellent for brown diatoms algae, however can supplement diet with algae wafers and even slice of cucumber.

What water conditions do they require?

Naturally come from quite acidic water, so best to keep the water quite soft so would recommend a pH of 7-7.3 and a temperature of 21 to 26°C. Most importantly keeping stable water parameters and be careful during water changes to avoid extreme fluctuations in pH and temperature.

What can they be kept with?

A great peaceful community fish, that can be kept with all species of tetra's, goruami's, corydoras and many more. Be cautious adding Otto's with larger Angelfish and Discus as Otto's may eat the slime coat of the bodies, especially at night/morning.

Where are they from?

Located in streams/rivers throughout the amazon river. Inhabits dense patches of marginal vegetation in streams, creeks and river. It’s also found in large numbers on the floating mats of vegetation commonly known as “floating meadows”, which provide a haven for many fish species.

Can they be bred in captivity?

Has been achieved, but unfortunately very few details are available. Spawning occurs in a similar style to Corydoras species, with the fish forming the classic ‘T’ position, in which the male grasps the female between his pectoral fin and body and eggs and sperm are deposited.
