Beier Voran Medium Format Folding Roll Film Camera with Compur-Rapid Shutter ca. 1937

Item Description & Condition Details.  A Voran medium format folding camera manufactured by Kamerafabrik Woldemar Beier KG (Freital, Germany) in the mid 1930’s.  This particular example features a Compur-Rapid shutter and a Rodenstock Trinar-Antistigmat (1:3.5, f=10.5) lens.  The camera is in good condition with a functional shutter and diaphragm, smooth aperture control, bright and clear viewfinder, supple bellows, and smoothly operating bellows door.  The leather clad metal body is free of dents with most of the cladding firmly attached.  Noted condition issues; some scuffs and scratches on the cladding; curling of the leather on the bellows door corner and along the edges of the top and bottom as well as the back; strap is almost broken in the middle; sticky shutter at low (last two) f-stops; dirt and debris in the film exposure windows, shutter activator was bent (and must be in the “cocked” position when the lens and bellows are stowed), notches in the shutter speed adjustment ring (from improper position of the viewfinder when closing bellows door); loss on coating on the viewfinder; loss of coating on the external metal composure guide; some dust in the film compartment.
