Victorian Rare Pinchbeck & Enamel, My Dear Father, Picture/Photo Locket

Here is a really lovely victorian pinchbeck & enamel picture/photo locket. The locket measures just over one inch in diameter and is all made of what looks to be real pinchbeck, yellow gold in colour with a lovely patina. The locket is circular with a delightful early embossed engravings allround the edge of the locket, typical for the era with flowers etc & then to the centre a glass locket compartment for a picture/photo & nicely this has one of a early gentleman. On the back the locket again has the early embossed border & then black enamelling which says, in memory of in early writting then a engraved gold section & then to the centre again in black enamelling it says, my dear father in gold letters. I have never seen a mourning locket exactly the same as this before which is quite lovely as it can be worn either side & a really special early piece of sentimental jewellery with very special meaning. This locket comes complete with a good working bail for attatching to a chain and dates clearly to the victorian period  & just has wear as you would expect with age, but unusually the enamelling is very good, so this piece has obviously been very cherished, see pics. This really is a lovely victorian rare locket in very good origional complete condition and such a lovely quality example of these.
