bolpol™ Blonde DeWaxed Shellac contains less the 0.2% wax and dries quickly and evenly to make a clear French Polish with a high shine. Perfect for pale woods (as it will not change the colour) blonde shellac can also be used on medium and dark woods and allows the natural colour variations and grain to show through. Complete refinishing of French Polished furniture is usually only required when a full restoration takes place because shellac amalgamates with previous coats for a seamless repair to scratches etc.
This very versatile wax is also used to make a sanding sealer, knotting and stain blocker, a binder for spirit soluble powder dyes and also an odour blocker. When used as a surface preparation the very low wax content of bolpol Blonde DeWaxed Shellac allows finishes to adhere well.
The following recipes are a guide only - adjust to suit your own requirements
French Polish - Dissolve 1kg of Shellac Flakes in 2.8 litres of denatured alcohol/methylated spirits.
Knotting & Stain Blocker - Dissolve 2.7kg of Shellac Flakes in 2.8 litres of alcohol/methylated spirits.
Sanding Sealer - Dissolve 0.45kg of Shellac Flakes in 2.8 litres of alcohol/methylated spirits.
