This is a WORKING pre-WW2 camera exposure meter (circa 1940), distributed by DeJur-Amsco in the USA. Known as the DeJur 'Critic' Model 40, it contains selenium cells used to capture light. This model uses Weston numbers (ASA was later adopted as the standard, and was incorporated into Dejur's later 'Model 50' light meter). The model 40 was priced at $18 at its debut in 1940.

Comes with original leather carrying case and strap. The dial face is made from glass; outer black casing is made of bakelite.

Leather case measures 3¾" x 3" x 1½" thick.
